X-ray Services

Diagnostic imaging techniques help narrow the causes of an injury or illness and ensure that the diagnosis is accurate. X-rays (radiographs) are the most common and widely available diagnostic imaging technique.

As part of our commitment to patient care, every Orthopedic Associates of Dutchess County office has digital x-ray imaging on-site. This allows our providers to have immediate access to your images. The images are stored in your electronic medical records and can be made available to you on CD if needed. Our onsite X-ray machines and dedicated team of X-ray technologists and orthopedic specialists provide immediate results to determine the best path of care.

What Should I Know About X-ray Services?

During an x-ray, the technician positions the part of your body being x-rayed between the x-ray machine and photographic film. You will then be asked to hold still while the machine briefly sends electromagnetic waves (radiation) through your body, exposing the film to reflect your internal structure.

Pregnant women, if possible, should not have an X-ray test as there is a small risk that X-rays may cause an abnormality to the unborn child. This is why women are asked before having an X-ray if they are, or might be, pregnant.
